Zikalala condemns killing of King Misuzulu aid

KZN Cooperative Governance MEC Sihle Zikalala says they are working on solutions following the recent spate of ward councillor killings in the province.

He also condemned the assassination of Dr Dumisani Khumalo, a traditional leader and chief advisor to Zulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini.
Khumalo was shot on Saturday night after he'd attended the reed dance ceremony in Nongoma, in northern KZN.
Zikalala visited the family of Zakhele Khuzwayo over the weekend.
The KwaMaphumulo Ward 11 councillor was gunned down while he was on his way home on Thursday.

"They are in the coalface of service delivery. They feel the pressure because they live with communities,” says Zikalala.
“So, it pains us when councillors are killed like this. We express our condolences, and we will ensure that we work with SAPS to ensure that the preparators are brought to book.”
Siyanda Magubane of Ward 11 in uMsinga and eThekwini ward 99 councillor Mnqoba Molefe were also killed in recent weeks.
