Mayor Zandile Gumede not being investigated: Hawks
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Hawks have dismissed reports that they are investigating eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede for corruption.

Yesterday - the City Press reported that a forensic report had implicated Gumede in fraud, corruption and facilitating money laundering - allegedly to pay back those who helped put her at the top.
According to the report, Gumede summoned a municipal official to her home and demanded that a R25 million tender be awarded to specific companies.
But the Hawks' Hangwani Mulaudzi says the mayor is not being investigated.
"We are not aware of any other matters that relate to the mayor. We are dealing with our own investigation. So that investigation does not involve the mayor," Mulaudzi said.

Malaudzi however says there is an investigation into alleged corruption at the municipality.
"We can confidently say that investigations relate to two councillors. There are also two service providers - alleged to be involved. There are also three individuals from those service providers. So we are talking about - approximaltey R25-million worth," Malaudzi said.
