Msunduzi verifying recording in internal corruption probe
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
The Msunduzi Municipality says it would welcome an external investigation into allegations of mismanagement and corruption which have been levelled
against it in recent weeks.
Some senior officials are accused of fraud and misconduct.
This after a municipal official was apparently heard, in an audio recording, giving instructions to manipulate the scores of a job interview.
Msunduzi's Thobeka Mafumbatha says they know who the person is.
But Mafumbatha says they first need to authenticate the recording before moving ahead with any disciplinary action.
"The municipality operates within the parameters of the government, so we are open to any investigation that will be levelled against the municipality. The internal investigation that is ongoing has actually propelled that swift action must be taken," she says.
Any member of the public with information on possible fraud and corruption within the Msunduzi area are being urged to contact their whistle blowing hotline on 080 100 0545.
