Gumede and her co-accused are facing fraud and corruption-related charges relating to a multi-million-rand DSW tender.

Outside court, a marquee and a stage have been set up - where a handful of supporters can be seen gathering. Two people said they want all the charges against Gumede to be dropped.

The former mayor and her co-accused will be joined by three eThekwini councillors. They were arrested by the Hawks last week and granted bail of R15 000 each.

At Gumede's last appearance, the Magistrate ordered the State to get all its ducks in a row.

She said if the full indictment isn't ready to be served today - among other things - an inquiry will be held which could result in the matter being struck off the role.
