Youth centre employee stabbed to death in Pinetown

The Department of Social Development has launched an internal investigation following the fatal stabbing on an employee at a child and youth care centre in Pinetown.
The department's Ncumisa Ndelu says that although the circumstances around the killing are not yet clear - initial reports are that the supervisor could have been attacked by children at the centre.

Ndelu says there had been an employees' strike at the facility at the time of the incident.
"Earlier today we received information that an employee had been killed at the Excelsior Child and Youth Care Centre. But what happened prior to that - we have no idea. That's why the head of department has ordered that an internal investigation to determine what happened," she said.
Police are investigating.
