Woman in Newlands East abandoned baby case arrested
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KZN police have nabbed a woman, believed to be linked to the dumping of a Newlands East baby, who was pulled from a storm water drain eight days ago.
The baby girl, who's since been named Sibani-Sethu Gabrielle - which means Our Light - was brought to the surface during a dramatic three-hour long rescue on Baracuda Road.
The police's Thembeka Mbhele says detectives launched an intensive investigation which led them to the woman yesterday.

"A 27-year-old suspect has been arrested while she was at a local hospital. She will be appearing in court soon. As we are talking, she is currently under police guard," Mbhele said.
Once she's discharged, she'll appear in court on attempted murder charges.
