Woman kidnapped in Eastern Cape rescued in Durban

Police have rescued a woman in Durban and arrested her alleged kidnapper.

The KwaZulu-Natal Hawks say the 30-year-old woman was abducted on Sunday in Sterkspruit in the Eastern Cape.
They say her kidnappers later demanded a ransom from her family.
Police were alerted.

Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo says detectives received information which led to Durban.
"They swiftly operationalised that information and spotted the suspect's vehicle in the Durban CBD. It was intercepted and the 30-year-old victim was rescued and taken to hospital for medical examination.
"The 23-year-old suspect was handed over to the detectives in the Eastern Cape for further investigation. He is expected to appear in court."
