A northern KwaZulu-Natal man has been locked up for raping his 11-year-old niece.
The 35-year old was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Nquthu Regional Court this week.
Police say in 2018 the man forced the child to watch a pornographic video before he abused her.
They say he tried to keep her quiet by giving her R80 and threatened her with death if she spoke up.
KZN police spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says the attack happened in Mondlo.

"The victim was brave enough and decided to report the matter to her elders. A case of rape was opened at Mondlo SAPS and it was transferred to Vryheid Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences who took over the investigation.
"Following a sterling investigation, the accused was placed under arrest and was tried in court. After making several court appearances, he was finally sentenced in court.
"He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be put in the sexual offenders register."
