Updated | By Tamasha Khanyi
A house fire in Phoenix, north of Durban, has left a 57-year-old woman with facial burns.

"It was total chaos because the house was attached and well alight. There were neighbours attempting to try and extinguish the fire, but they were unsuccessful. The woman from the home needed immediate attention," says KZN VIP's Gareth Naidoo.
Naidoo says the fire department took 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze in Parkvale on Thursday morning.

"They managed to extinguish the fire before it spread to the neighbouring homes. All the other homes were evacuated to prevent further causalities. She was established on scene and taken to a local clinic.
"She was then referred to go a hospital for further medical attention due to the severity of her injuries."
It's believed to have been started when the woman was trying to boil water in a pot.
