Woman due in court after Durban alleged hit-and-run

The family of one of the two Phoenix men killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident on the M4 freeway near Blue Lagoon has welcomed the arrest of a woman in connection with the crash.

26-year-old, Sumeer Maharaj and 25-year-old Praven Mahabir where hit a week ago while changing a tyre in the emergency lane.
Maharaj's uncle, Ridwaan Abib says they're relieved.
"It will take time for us to get over what happened. Now that we know, we just hope that the law takes its course and the person does whatever the law says they must do," he said.
He's praised police for a job well done.
"The officers that were handling the case had already put in a lot of work to catch the person. They worked day and night, following leads and checking vehicles. If it wasn't for them, they probably wouldn't have caught the person," he said.
Durban Central police arrested the 37-year-old motorist yesterday.
She's due to appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court tomorrow, facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
