Woman accused of son's murder to undergo psychiatric evaluation
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
After more than two months in Westville Prison, a Morningside woman charged with the murder of her 7-year-old son wants to get out.
Megan Prins allegedly drugged and suffocated her little boy, Sloan, and then tried to take her own life at an Umhlanga guest house north of Durban in June.
She made a brief appearance in court yesterday and is due to be booked into Fort Napier Hospital, in Pietermaritzburg, later this month for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation.

Prins' lawyer, Burt Lain' told the court that his instructions are to bring an application for bail.
At an earlier appearance, the State had indicated it would be opposing bail and said the murder was premeditated.
Prins is due back in court later this month to be transferred to Fort Napier.
A date for her bail application will only be arranged then but it'll likely be a few days after she's released from hospital.
