Winston Park "dog shooter" due back in court next year

The man accused of shooting a dog multiple times - killing the animal in Durban's Upper Highway area - is due back in court in the new year.
The 54-year-old, who handed himself over to police last week, is out on bail.

Police confiscated several firearms including a pistol, a shotgun and two hunting rifles from the man's home.
Sue Noakes is with the Kloof and Highway SPCA.
"People always think it is not so important, it is just a crime against animals," she says, "But what they do not understand is that type of violence starts somewhere so the guy who shoots a dog today, tomorrow is the guy who commits other crimes. It is very sad reflection on what our society has become".
Meanwhile a Pinetown resident has pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty after a two year court battle.
The man has admitted to keeping a dog chained without food or water, on a one-metre long leash.
While sentencing proceedings are due to take place next month, the man's submitted a denial of ownership application.
