Winston Park dog shooting: Suspect hands himself over
Updated | By Bernadette Wicks
Police say the man accused of shooting dead a dog in Winston Park earlier this week will make his first appearance before a court soon.
It’s alleged that on Tuesday night, the man drove the animal out to a quiet cul-de-sac in the Upper Highway suburb and shot it multiple times.
A Facebook post about the incident quickly went viral, sparking outrage.
Police say a 54-year-old man handed himself over to Hillcrest officers on Friday.
They say three rifles, a pistol and 47 rounds of ammunition were seized.
The man was released on R2 000 police bail and will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court.
Police say their investigations are ongoing.
