Wife sentenced to 22 years for murder of KZN cop

The wife of a KwaZulu-Natal police officer has been sentenced to 22 years behind bars for his murder.

Warrant Officer Thulani Ngwabe was found stabbed to death on a railway line near Port Shepstone beach a year and a half ago.
Nonkululeko Ngwabe was arrested a month later.

She had allegedly hired three men to carry out the murder of her husband, who was stationed at Margate.
Spokesperson for the Hawks in KwaZulu-Natal Simphiwe Mhlongo says she was sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Monday.
"Her accomplices will return in the same court on the 18th of June 2021. They are also facing murder charges because they were the ones who were allegedly hired.

"She pleaded guilty as a result, she was sentenced alone. The motive of the killing looks like there was an interest in the benefits including the house and life policy as money from his work."
