Werner de Jager bail bid rocked by more delays
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Frustration grew in the Amanzimtoti Magistrate’s Court on Thursday as the bail decision for the man accused of murdering his pastor wife was hit with more delays.

Proceedings were put on hold by load shedding on Thursday.
The court then had to deal with the matter of media broadcast cameras during proceedings.
The accused, Werner de Jager, briefly stood in the dock, tapping his fingers on the wood as the State and the Defence went back and forth on whether broadcasting the case should be allowed.

He was swiftly sent back to the holding cells as the magistrate went back into her chambers to deliberate on media privileges.
Activists from rights NGOs Operation Bobbi Bear and Elders Voice have filled the court to support slain pastor Liezel de Jager’s family.
Eureka Olivier, who is from Bobbi Bear, said the delays were nothing new.
"We have been here from this morning waiting for the bail application and it is pretty frustrating. We also have an NGO to run and it is difficult to be at every court case for this reason. Now we have delayed again, but we are adamant to stay 'till the end became today is final."
