eThekwini's Water Unit will be carrying out work on the northern aqueduct pipeline at Pridley Road in Reservoir Hills.

The water shutdown will begin at 5am and expected to last until 5 the following morning.

eThekwini says residents can expect outages, poor pressure or an intermittent supply.

City spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela says all affected reservoirs will be filled up prior to the shutdown - but adds water tankers will be on standby.

"The Municipality's Water and Sanitation will embark on this process to replace an 800mm butterfly valve at Pridley Road on the existing northern aqueduct pipeline, which will affect the incoming flow of water into all reservoirs supplied off the aqueduct.

"Residents are advised that the following areas might experience water outages, poor pressure or intermittent supply during the shutdown period: Newlands, Phoenix, Mt Edgecombe, Parts of Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, Inanda, Sea Cow Lake, Aloes, Avoca, Mt View, Trenance, Redhill, Effingham, Umgeni park, Riverhorse Valley, Umhlanga, Durban North, Sunningdale, LaLucia, Gateway, Glenashley, Beachway, Springfield Park and Cornubia."
