Water cuts begin today in Durban's western areas

A 36-hour water shutdown has begun for residents and businesses in Durban's western areas.

The eThekwini Municipality says the planned outage, which ends at 6pm tomorrow is necessary.
The City's Western Aqueduct system is undergoing major upgrades.
Pinetown CBD, Kloof, Hillcrest, Dassenhoek and Ntuzuma are among the areas affected.

Municipality spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela says water tankers are being sent to homes.
"Our residents must not panic. We will be embarking on this exercise which is positive, and it is going to be a permanent solution to water provision in that part of the city. We are going to fill our reservoirs to capacity."
Mayisela has asked that people, please use water sparingly during this time.
