Warning: Water cuts for eThekwini Western Aqueduct

A number of areas are set to be without water for almost 36 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. The city's Western Aqueduct system is to undergo major upgrades. Areas like Hillcrest, Inanda, Ntuzuma, uMzinyathi are all set to be affected. 

eThekwini’s Msawakhe Mayisela says they’ll supplement the region's water supply from the Midmar Dam.

"This exercise will be a permanent solution to all the problems experienced in the past in that part of the city and we appeal to all members of the public to bare with us", he said.

Resident Lucia Maduma says some parts of Dassenhoek have already been hit by outages.

"There was no water in Marrianridge and some parts of Dassenhoek for four days due to a burst pipe. The municipality did not even send in water tankers to assist", she said.

Ntuzuma’s Nokulunga Ngubane says water cuts occur frequently without any notice.

"Water cuts in our area happen frequently. Sometimes we are without water the entire day", she said
