The taps in some of the homes in the southern and western parts of Durban are said to be running again after a week-long dry spell.

The failure of three pumps at the Northdene 3 Pump Station left residents of Shallcross, Chatsworth and a few other areas without supply.
eThekwini says engineers have now successfully configured a pump that had been sourced.

"It has now started to work and we are now pumping water to the residents. Residents in Shallcross area are now receiving water but we do believe by the end of the day and earlier hours of tomorrow morning, everyone will be connected and will have running water.
