Their taps have been dry for about a week after several pumps at the Northdene 3 Pump Station failed.

Fifty-five-year old Chatsworth resident, Shanora Manila said without access to supply in her own home, she fears for her safety and that of other residents, especially the elderly.

"The COVID-19 everybody touches the same hose and pipes. We don't even know where the tank is bringing water from so we feel there will be more death coming through," she said.

"Water is vital for everybody. If you come out there, there is a stampede. There are people fighting and grabbing. Some people come with 40 buckets and the next person can't get water. It's uncontrollable."
