WATCH: Video of prison guard being attacked was staged - Correctional Services
A video purporting to show the assault of a prison warder by inmates at KZN's Glencoe Correctional Centre has been dismissed as fake.
The Correctional Services Department says what appears on the footage is staged.
It adds the video wasn't recorded at Glencoe.
The clip emerged over the weekend just after the department announced it was conducting an internal investigation following the death of an inmate at the prison.

Departmental spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo says they've identified the person behind the video and will take action against them.
"These videos contravene section 124 and 125 of the Correctional Services Act. As it states that any unauthorised person who wears or uses a departmental uniform is liable to either a prison sentence or a fine. Correctional services are engaging with SAPS so that law can take its course."
