SRC President suspended from DUT following violent protests

DUT SRC president, Zabelo Ntuli has been suspended following a violent student protest last week.
According to the suspension letter - the institution is conducting an investigation into alleged serious misconduct.
He's accused of having made threats, inciting violence and bringing the name of the university into disrepute.
Last week, 16 DUT students were arrested for public violence following a protest at the Steve Biko campus.
Ntuli says he's been given until Thursday to vacate his residence.

As the SRC President, I spoke to the media about a variety of issues but I have since received a suspension after those media briefings that I have brought the name of the university into disrepute.
"So we are still waiting for the actual charges on why we are going to be charged."
Meanwhile, the university has extended the online registration period for first-time applicants and returning students to Friday.
