Jackie Naidoo attended mass at the Immanuel Community Church on Thursday evening when the robbery happened.

Police say five armed men held up the congregation.

The incident happened while the service was being streamed live.

One masked suspect is seen approaching the pastor at the pulpit and pointing a gun at him while searching his pockets for valuables.

Naidoo says almost all of the congregation's phones were taken - except for hers and another person's.

"They did it so fast, and I was all shaken up, and I became limp after that because he had the gun in one hand and searched me with the other hand. He asked me where is his phone, I told him I didn't have a phone.

"My phone was in my bag. He never searched my bag even though it was right in front of him. He just searched my pockets, and I laid down."

Naidoo says no one was physically harmed.

"Thank God they never harmed us. That's the most important thing. Normally, they will shoot and then leave, but they never touch anyone. I just said, 'Lord, please protect us. They mustn't touch us'."

KZN police say two cars were also taken.

A case of business robbery has been opened at Verulam SAPS.
