WATCH: Mop-up operations on N3 Mooi River after fiery protests
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
Clean-up operations on the N3 in the vicinity of the Mooi River Toll Plaza were underway on Saturday morning.

The fires that were still burning from the early hours of Saturday morning have also put out.
"All 23 of the vehicles that were set alight last night, including a tanker carrying highly flammable dangerous goods and a car carrier have been extinguished," the concession's operations manager Thania Dhoogra said.

Protests, believed to be linked to calls demanding former president Jacob Zuma's release from jail, intensified in Mooi River overnight.
The road near the toll plaza was shut on both sides for hours, after law enforcement and emergency teams moved in.
Dhoogra has new information on those traffic implications.
"Light motor-vehicle traffic is currently being around Mooi River.
"Southbound light motor vehicle traffic is diverted Midway to Nottingham Road; whilst northbound light motor vehicles traffic is diverted at Midmar back onto the N3 at Treverton.

"Heavy motor vehicles are being stacked on scene. Motorists are advised to please expect congestion whilst this diversion is in effect."
