WATCH: Local govt steps in after KZN family prevented from completing burial
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Local government in KwaZulu-Natal says it's trying to get answers after a south coast family said they were prevented from completing their mother's burial.
They say they had to return her remains to the mortuary when they were denied permission to lay her to rest in their Mthwalume village.
An Induna is said to have stopped them from using a plot there.
Videos on social media show a group of women carrying a coffin through the village streets, apparently after they were turned back.

Cooperative Governance MEC Sihle Zikalala says they're working with the Umzumbe Municipality and a traditional council to address this sensitive issue.
He's called for calm assuring the family and communities that investigations are under way.
