President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 8pm on Tuesday evening amid the surge in Covid-19 infections.
He has held the latest round of meetings with the National Coronavirus Command Council, the President’s Coordinating Council and Cabinet.

It's Cyril Ramaphosa's second update in as many weeks on the country's response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Several provinces have already entered the third wave of cases.
Currently Gauteng accounts for over 60 percent of overall confirmed infections in the country.
