A derelict house in Essenwood in Durban has been razed to the ground.

According to an eyewitness - who lives across the property - a fire broke out at the vacant home on the corner of Sandile Thusi (Argyle Road ) and Problem Mkhize Road (Cowie Road) late Thursday night.
Enzo Coppola says he heard crackling noises around 11pm - and when he looked out his window, he saw the house was engulfed with flames.

He says emergency personnel soon after arrived on the scene.
"At around 1am, it was under control. Thankfully there wasn't much wind. There was a very slight breeze because we were concerned about the house next door because a lot of the ash was blowing onto the roof."
KZN police confirmed the incident.
