A crash has led to the closure of the N3 towards Durban, near Pietermaritzburg's Peter Brown off-ramp.
Paramedics say one person was killed when a truck collided with four vehicles late Thursday night.
KZN EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie says two people were hurt.
"The crash did result in the total closure of the southbound carriageway as well as affecting carriage lanes on the northbound carriageway."
