WATCH: Chaos erupts as scores gather in Durban CBD

Dramatic scenes have unfolded outside City Hall, where supporters of Zandile Gumede have beenprotesting, calling for her reinstatement.
Demonstrators were seen sprinting away from police, who fired stun grenades to disperse crowds, after an hours-long demonstration in the Durban CBD.
Officers chased and tackled some people to the ground. It's understood that one of those detained is a journalist.
A close source says demonstrators intimidated staff at the Florence Mkhize Building and threatened to break down the gates to main entrance.

Earlier, dozens supporters of the eThekwini Mayor chanted and danced while lifting up placards reading, "We demand the suspension of the city manager:"

Gumede's 30-day leave of absence was extended yesterday. The ANC's yet to complete and submit a report to the PEC on tender-linked corruption allegations against her.
