Mngomezulu says the accident has closed the road in the northern KZN area with no alternative routes available.

A video of the crash - shows bystanders and local authorities standing by the first two-truck collision. Moments later the bystanders and officers are seen running away in a frenzy seconds before a truck burst through the accident scene.

The secondary crash saw four vehicles burst into flames.

The crash came at the same time as a community protest further down the road.
