Warring KZN taxi associations to sign 'peace agreement'
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Feuding KZN taxi associations are expected to sign an agreement in Ladysmith on Monday aimed at ending the violence in the industry.
Police Minister Bheki Cele and officials from the KZN Department of Transport and Community Safety will be at the meeting.
It comes as several taxi bosses have been killed in recent weeks in KZN.
Two weeks ago in Tongaat, five people were gunned down in two separate shooting incidents; whose target was a taxi owner. He escaped unharmed.

Police ministry spokesperson Lirandzu Themba says the peace deal follows an earlier round of talks.
"It is on this score that the SAPS led by the Police Minister, General Bheki Cele on Monday, 03 April 2023, met with owners of the main taxi associations responsible for taxi operations in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng respectively.
"The meeting resolved that a peace agreement agreeing on amongst other things, a ceasefire be drafted and signed between the involved taxi associations."
