Wardens, inmate injured in stabbing attack at Westville Prison

There's been a stabbing incident at Westville Prison in Durban.

KwaZulu-Natal Correctional Services Department's spokesperson, Thulani Mdluli says several wardens were attacked by inmates from the Medium B section - shortly after breakfast on Thursday morning.

He says they were stabbed with sharp objects. 

"We can also confirm that seven officials and one offender sustained injuries during the incident and they and currently receiving medical attention. 

"The situation was quickly attended too and working conditions are back to normal," says Mdluli.
