KwaZulu-Natal's police chief has welcomed the arrest of a double murder suspect who's been on the run for seven years.

Police finally caught up with him over the weekend.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), Sifiso Nxumalo was arrested for stabbing 23-year-old Mavela Ncube at a tavern in Mondlo in Zululand in June 2013.
Ncube later died at a local clinic.

Police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says a few months later when Nxumalo was still out on bail - he stabbed another person.
"A 35-year-old Ali Narsill was stabbed by the suspect while in a shop at B Section in Mondlo. The victim sustained a stab wound to the back.
"He was taken to a local clinic where he later died. The suspect fled the area after the incident and has been on the run since then."
Nxumalo was traced to Gauteng several days ago and taken into custody by police on the East Rand.
He appeared in court in Nquthu on Monday and is due to apply for bail next Wednesday.
