Wanted suspect killed in Durban shootout with police

A suspect who was on the run was killed in a shootout with police at Congo in Inanda, north of Durban.
On Friday night, police were searching for two men who were spotted walking in the area carrying firearms.
When officials spotted the suspects, the pair ran into nearby bushes, and a chase ensued.

Spokesperson Jay Naicker says during the chase the suspects opened fire on the police officers.
“During the shootout, a 23-year-old suspect was fatally wounded, while his accomplice managed to flee with a firearm, as well as ammunition, was recovered from the deceased.”

“An inquest -attempted murdered as well as illegal possession of a firearm was opened at the Inanda police station for further investigation,” he says.
