Wanted man killed during shootout with police in Ndwedwe

KwaZulu-Natal police say a man who had been randomly discharging his firearm in public, in Ndwedwe, leading to his subsequent death during a shootout with officers, had been involved in other crimes.
Officers responded over the weekend to the Okhambeni area where they found the 38-year-old man randomly shooting with his gun.
Police say when the deceased spotted the authorities, he began shooting at them and a shootout ensued.
"The investigation that was conducted further revealed that the same suspect was sought on a burglary case reported in Verulam SAPS on 13 August 2019, as well as theft of a motor vehicle reported in Ndwedwe," says SAPS spokesperson Thembeka Mbele.

"It is alleged that a house was broken into and a 9mm pistol, TV, laptop and a cellphone were taken. Charges of an inquest attempted murder, as well as illegal possession of a firearm, were opened," she says.
