Vredehoek fire contained, firefighters tackle massive blaze in Paarl

Officials say 200 are on scene trying to fight a fire in Paarl near Du Toitskloof pass which is burning out of control.

Firefighters are working to contain at least 19 fires across the province.
Officials say 200 of them are on scene in Paarl - trying to fight the blaze - which is being fanned by strong winds.
Provincial disaster management chief Colin Diener says efforts to contain the blaze are still ongoing.
Emergency workers worked through the night to put out a veld fire burning along Table Mountain - in the Vredehoek area. The large veld fire in Deer Park resulted in four homes being damaged.
One of the houses has been severely damaged.
