About 100 disgruntled community members have gathered on the side of Khan and Old Main Roads.

They're waiting for City officials to come and address them.

Although calm has been restored, Durban Metro Police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad says the demonstrations were chaotic earlier, with access to motorists blocked from Isipingo Rail.

"Shortly after 4am this morning, Durban Metro Police was called to Isipingo where protesters blocked off the road.

"They have managed to disperse the crowd and move them to the side of the road. The road is open now. There is a strong presence of Durban Metro Police and various units."

Protesters had taken to the streets earlier this week over service delivery and housing.
