The man accused of repeatedly raping his 10-year-old step-daughter in Verulam, north of Durban is due to appear before a magistrate tomorrow.

The 43-year-old was formally arrested yesterday afternoon, after he allegedly escaped from a hospital on Monday night.
Police say he was admitted after he was assaulted, apparently by community members. This after the child told a neighbour she had been raped.
The Verulam community is outraged following the shocking allegations. Residents were left in disbelief when private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa claimed the man had escaped from the hospital he was taken to.

Police have downplayed the apparent escape, saying the suspect was only formally arrested yesterday.
Officers are also investigating whether the girl was held captive at the home since her mother passed away several years ago.
Reaction Unit says pornography and other items were found in the room the girl was allegedly being kept in.
She was taken to a place of safety after being assessed by doctors on Monday night and is also receiving counselling.
