Verulam pupils protest over arrests of fellow students

KwaZulu-Natal police say they had to calm a student protest outside a school in Verulam, north of Durban.

Pupils from Trenance Park Secondary School took to the streets on Friday.
Reaction Unit South Africa says they prevented educators from entering the property.

KZN police spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says the demonstration was over the arrests of four pupils suspected to be linked to a murder on Sunday.
"A 27-year-old man was allegedly assaulted at Trenance Park in Verulam. The four suspects appeared before Verulam Magistrate's Court today [Friday].
"During the protest action there was no injuries or property damaged."
