Verulam man arrested for allegedly raping eight-year-old girl
A 49-year-old man is in police custody after he allegedly raped an 8-year-old girl in Verulam - north of Durban.
The man - who's believed to be a close relative - was arrested at his home yesterday. Police say the suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
Officers were called to the home after the little girl's mother walked into the bedroom and found the man half undressed.
The girl was found covered with a blanket - wearing only her underwear.

Police spokesperson - Nqobile Gwala says the man was arrested at the scene. The child was taken to hospital and is expected to receive counselling.
