Verulam rape accused wants bail
A Durban man who allegedly raped a child is approaching the Verulam Magistrates Court this morning to apply for bail.
He is accused of raping an 8-year-old girl from Verulam, north of Durban.
The 49-year-old, who is believed to be a close relative of the child, was arrested at his home on Thursday.
Police were called to the home after the little girl's mother walked into the bedroom and found the man half undressed.
The child was found covered with a blanket, wearing only her underwear.
He was taken in custody a short while later.
