Vehicle in deadly Midlands crash was overloaded, says KZN Transport

Transport authorities in KZN say a preliminary investigation has revealed that a vehicle that was involved in a deadly accident in the Midlands was overloaded.

Seven people died after bakkie crashed on the R612 between Ixopo and Highflats over the weekend.
Another seven were injured.
KZN Transport says among the victims who died were four staff members from a local Boxer store, who were returning from a function.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
The department says a team has been assigned to assist the families with identification, counselling and funeral preparations.
