Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Management at Mangosuthu University of Technology has decided to suspend its academic activities, following violent protests.
Nine students were arrested during the unrest at the university yesterday.
Management and the SRC were then locked in a meeting for most of yesterday afternoon - where a number of issues were addressed including registration, non-payment of allowances and outstanding learning material.
The university's Mbali Mkhize says after consulting the council, they decided to shut down the university with immediate effect.
"We expect the students to vacate all campuses and residences by 4pm this afternoon."
