Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
uThukela's municipal manager is expected to explain why
reports of up to R237 million of fruitless and wasteful expenditure haven't
been provided in over a month.

Bongani Mnguni's being hauled before the Municipal Public Accounts Committee to provide answers.
Committee chair Thys Janse van Rensburg says they were forced to postpone their planned October sitting twice as a result of the departments involved not providing investigation reports.

He says because of this they haven't been able to report to the council.
"Somewhere within that administration of the municipality via all the departments, department heads and then the MM, who at the top of that, people that aren't providing us with requested reports.
"And we now need to dig down and find out from the municipal manager who is the people responsible.
“Is it his office or is it people below him? And thereafter we need to give a recommendation to council to say these are the findings, we requested the reports and we couldn't get them. These are the reasons why and therefore recommend you guys to take the following action."
