UPDATE: Search for missing Umlazi girl called off
The search for the missing 9-year-old Umlazi girl has been called off for the day.
Authorities say the conditions in the river are too rough and the levels too high.
Teams from have been trying to locate her since the morning.
Earlier, police Search and Rescue Unit divers searched the river below the surface.
Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says river conditions are too dangerous at the moment.
"The search will continue as soon as it is safe for divers to enter the water again," he said.
The girl had been playing with her friends just off H Section when she got into difficulty in the water.
