UPDATE: Durban McDonald's fire put out
Updated | By Chanelle Lutchman
Fire fighters have managed to extinguish the blaze at the McDonalds restaurant along KE Masinga Road formerly Old Fort Road in Durban this morning.
Emergency services initially said seven people had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Rescue Care's Ceron Lennox says the number has since increased to nine.
"We have just taken the patients to hospital and staff are on their way back now to make sure there are no other patients that were left but so far the whole building has been cleared.
"Everything has been evacuated and there is nothing else. They are just putting out the last bit of smouldering of the fire but the fire itself is out," she said.
Lennox says no serious injuries have been reported. It's unclear what sparked the fire.
