Updated | By ECR Newswatch
The Water and Sanitation Department has released stats - showing the steady rise in dam levels across the country following the recent heavy rain fall.
Briefing the media at the Vaal Dam at the weekend, Minister Nomvula Mokonyane said that 57 dams countrywide were above 100% - saying that the country’s drought outlook is improving.

The department opened two sluice gates at the Vaal Dam in Gauteng - with hopes that a full recovery from the drought will be seen in two to three years time.
Provinces such as the Western Cape and parts of the Northern Cape expect upcoming winter rainfall while the situation in KZN - being one of the worst affected provinces - is "influenced by the insufficient recovery of dams."
