30-hour water shutdown for some parts of KZN
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
The Department of Water and Sanitation in the province has confirmed that a 30-hour water shutdown will kick in tomorrow morning - to allow for maintenance work to be carried out at the Midmar Water Works.
The department says parts of the Msunduzi, eThekwini and uMgungundlovu municipalities will be affected.
Officials are not expecting any water cuts - as reservoirs have been filled ahead of time.

Water and Sanitation provincial head, Ashley Starkey, says the shutdown is planned for 30-hours - and should commence from 8:30am on Tuesday, to about 2pm the following afternoon (Wednesday, February 22).
"Umgeni Water has assured the public that they have for the last 36-hours provided more water has been provided for all affected municipalities - in order for those municipalities to top-up their reservoirs ahead of the shutdown," he said.
Umgeni Water's Shami Harichunder says the shutdown is necessary for essential pipeline construction to take place - between Midmar Dam and the Midmar Treatment Plant.
