UniZulu students 'terrorised' by crime, embark on protest

Student protesters at the University of Zululand say they are tired of being terrorised by criminals on campus.
Angry students highlighted their safety concerns during a demonstration on Monday.
Student and member of the Young Communist League Thembelani Jali says those living in off-campus residences have become soft targets for criminals.

"We demand the relevant stakeholders to look at this issue and find an amicable solution for students who are residing off-campus.
"They must talk to traditional leadership, the South African Police Service to intervene even the municipality. Students are being mugged and robbed by criminals."
Meanwhile, UniZulu management suspended the academic programme on Monday after a mob threatened to burn university property.
