UniZulu staff to return to work on Monday
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
Staff at the University of Zululand's KwaDlangezwa campus in northern KwaZulu-Natal have been told to return to work on Monday.
This after the campus was placed on lockdown following violent student unrest this week.
UniZulu said in a statement that, while staff are expected back at work from Monday, the campus will remain closed to students until further notice.
The Student Representative Council's Mduduzi Mnqayi says the protests, which saw a police car and a bookshop being torched yesterday, were the result of a 'misunderstanding' regarding the payment of meal and transport allowances.
Mnqayi says management is addressing their concerns.
The varsity's Richards Bay campus is not affected.
